Unidragon's 1000-Piece Cardboard Puzzles: The Full Series
by Unidragon US · May 21, 2026
Unidragon is known for wooden puzzles. We also make cardboard puzzles, focused on the 1000-piece format at $24.99. This is a confusing position to explain on a wooden-brand site, so let's just be direct about what's in the cardboard line, why it exists, and when to buy it instead of the wooden version.
The five cardboard 1000-piece designs
Five designs currently in stock. $24.99 each. 27.6 by 19.7 inches when assembled. About 6 to 8 hours of build time. They ship from our US warehouse with free shipping on orders over $49.99, so pair two and you cross the free-shipping line.
Earth
Planet Earth 1000 pcs. A cosmic scene: Earth surrounded by galaxies, stars, comets, solar flares. This is one of our most popular illustrations from the wooden line, now in a larger cardboard format. The same artwork also exists as wooden Woosaic Planet Earth at $69.99 if you want the wood version after.

Fantastic Landscape
Landscape 1000 pcs. A house and bridge in a mountain valley. Quiet palette of greens, browns, warm light. The most meditative of the five. If your puzzler likes calm landscapes over high-contrast graphics, pick this one.

Thomas Rabbit
Thomas Rabbit 1000 pcs. First in the Rabbit trio. Detailed rabbit illustration with a dense patterned background. Harder than the landscape because of repetitive color zones.

Count Rabbit
Count Rabbit 1000 pcs. Second rabbit. Different pose and palette than Thomas. If you frame both, they sit well side by side.

Cyber Rabbit
Cyber Rabbit 1000 pcs. Third rabbit, neon and tech styling. The most graphic of the three. Pick the palette that fits your room.

Cardboard vs wooden at 1000 pieces: a comparison
Unidragon makes 1000-piece puzzles in both materials. Cardboard runs $24 to $35. Wooden runs $69 (the mosaic Woosaic series) to $159 (premium art masterpieces). The decision isn't purely about budget.

Same artwork in both materials
Some of our most popular designs come in both formats. If you build the cardboard version and love the artwork, you can graduate to the wooden version for the gift moment or the permanent wall display.
- Planet Earth: cardboard at $24.99, wooden as Woosaic at $69.99
- Italian Riviera: wooden Woosaic at $69.99
- Sakura: wooden Woosaic at $69.99

If you want a wooden 1000-piece in a more elaborate format than Woosaic mosaic, our art and animal lines cover $87 to $159:

- Van Gogh Starry Night: 1000 pcs, $159.99.

When the cardboard 1000-piece is the right choice
Buy cardboard if any of these apply:
- You build puzzles regularly and rotate through designs. At $24.99 each, you can do five different designs for the price of one wooden masterpiece.
- You want a large finished piece on the wall. 27.6 by 19.7 inches is bigger than the wooden 1000-piece formats, and the price point makes it easier to live with on display.
- You're new to 1000-piece builds. Cardboard is the standard format for learning to enjoy large puzzles. Easier shapes, lighter pieces, faster sorting.
- You want to try the Unidragon artwork before paying $70 to $160 for the wooden version. If the design clicks for you in cardboard, the wooden equivalent (where it exists) is the upgrade.
When the wooden version is the right choice
Buy wooden if any of these apply:
- You're gifting it. The wooden puzzle in its designer gift box reads as a serious gift. The cardboard reads as a value pick. For Mother's Day, anniversaries, holidays, the wooden box does the work before the recipient even opens it.
- You want the tactile experience: heavy HDF pieces, click-fit, shaped whimsy pieces. None of that is in cardboard. If you've done cardboard puzzles for years, wooden is the upgrade.
- You're going to keep the puzzle displayed for years. Wooden puzzles don't warp or fade. Cardboard does, slowly, especially near direct sunlight.
- You're a serious puzzle collector. Wooden 1000-piece is harder, slower, more rewarding. If cardboard 1000s feel routine, wooden is the next level.
How to plan a 1000-piece build
- Reserve a table. 27.6 by 19.7 inches is bigger than most people expect. You need a dedicated surface for the entire build. A dining table you don't use on weekdays is ideal.
- Sort first. Spend 30 to 45 minutes flipping pieces face-up and sorting: edges separate, then by color or region. The build accelerates 3x after sorting.
- Build the frame. All edges first. Use the box image as your reference.
- Work region by region. Pick a clear zone (the sky, a body of water, the central subject) and finish it before moving on. Don't bounce around.
- Glue and frame it if you're keeping it. 27.6 by 19.7 inches fits a 28 by 20 inch frame from any craft store. Standard puzzle glue works for cardboard. For wooden, use thicker glue formulated for wood.
Frequently asked
Why does Unidragon make cardboard at all? Different price points serve different customers. The cardboard 1000-piece at $24.99 is the entry level: accessible for casual builders, gift exchanges under $25, or someone trying Unidragon artwork for the first time. The wooden 1000-piece at $69 to $159 is for collectors, gift-givers, and serious puzzlers who want the wood experience.
Are the cardboard pieces shaped like the wooden ones? No. Cardboard uses standard interlocking shapes (the familiar tab-and-slot). Wooden uses HDF with shaped whimsy pieces. Cardboard builds faster because standard shapes give you assembly hints. Wooden is slower but more rewarding for puzzle enthusiasts.
Is the print quality the same? For designs that exist in both materials, the artwork is identical. The cardboard print sits on a slightly less reflective surface. Colors and detail are the same.
Can a cardboard puzzle be framed? Yes. Glue the assembled puzzle, dry overnight, mount in a 28 by 20 inch frame. Most craft stores stock that size.
Shipping? All five 1000-piece cardboard puzzles ship from our US warehouse. Free US shipping over $49.99 (pair any two for free delivery). Standard delivery 3 to 8 business days plus 1 to 2 days handling.
